Charlotte Spencer is a choreographer, facilitator and occasional performer. As artistic director of Charlotte Spencer Projects she works across art forms and predominantly in outdoor environmental contexts. With the contribution of many remarkable artists, Charlotte creates choreographic experiences, curates events, gives talks, collaborates, disrupts and questions, takes dance onto bike tours, and is endlessly making maps.
Charlotte has received commissions from The Greenwich Dance and Trinity Laban partnership, Salisbury International Art Festival, Brighton&Hove Libraries, Jerwood Galleries, Turner Contemporary and Siobhan Davies Dance.
Charlotte is a Sadler’s Wells Summer University Artist 2015-18 led by Jonathan Burrows and Eva Martinez, and Artist Activator at Greenwich Dance. She worked closely with Siobhan Davies Dance since 2010 on various projects. Charlotte was a priority artist for Dansce Dialogues 2 2012-14 and Tour d’Europe des Choreographes 2010/2011.
Charlotte graduated from LCDS in 2003 with a 1st Class BA (Hons). These days she lives in East Sussex.
Walking Stories – an audio walk for parks was created in 2013 through an expansive touring project, Cycle Stories. It has toured nationally and internationally including Festival DDD – Porto, Portugal, Dance Umbrella 2015, Brighton International Festival 2014, Festival Plages de Danse – Sarzeau, France 2014. It exists in English, French and Portuguese.
Her most recent work, Is this a Waste Land? premiered in 2017 in Corby and Glasgow as part of Dance International Glasgow.
